Our Art Group was founded in January 2002 by Maureen
Coffey and Deborah Bennett.
Membership includes Artists at all levels, some of them professionals, others who have 'dabbled' over the years and also those who are complete, but enthusiastic, beginners. We have about 20 members at present.
The Group meets fortnightly on Fridays in the Church Hall of our local Catholic Church from 10am until 1pm. We pay a subscription at this time which helps towards materials, such as paper, paints etc.
Half way through the morning we stop for a coffee/tea break with cake or biscuits and chat.
Before we finish the meeting we display what we have done that morning and discuss about it.
Apart from its regular meetings (workshops) the Group also visit major exhibitions i.e at The Tate Gallery in London. It also benefits from visiting speakers on their own particular genre. For example, we have heard talks on costume, ceramic design, sculpture, book illustration and abstract painting.
An Exhibition of work done in the preceding twelve months is held every year in the spring, usually in May. The works exhibited are in a variety of media and on a number of different topics.
